Tomorrow Night ⊗ Lies Are Fine

Tomorrow night (Friday the 20th) we're having our third gallery event featuring three impressive young artists. The show will be in the middle room on the third floor of 288 Norfolk, a beautiful big room that used to be a dance studio. The IL has expanded onto the third floor and this is the first event that we'll be holding there.

Our last event, Not This Side, drew an audience of about 200 people and went late into the night, lubricated by our open bar and music from Industry Lab resident DJ, DJ Franky Needles. This time will be similar and different. We have three artists again, two of whom will be presenting perfomance works and the third a photographic installation. It will not be boring; it will be epic, as art should be.

You can learn more about the artists on the our gallery page and on their sites: Sean Joseph Patrick Carney, Matt Glass, and Trisha Holt. Once again, the show is curated by Emily Hurley, Jordan Wayne Long, and me.

Everything kicks off at 7:30, see you there.

New Floor Open House: Friday, May 11 (6–9pm)

We are pleased to announce that the Industry Lab will be expanding into a new, 2,500 square-foot room on June 1st. That means we have room for new, amazing residents. If you happen to be a potential resident, please come visit us on Friday, May 11th between 6pm and 9pm for our open house.

The new room, seen in the panorama below, is on the 3rd floor of our building. It will share all of the resources available to the rest of the IL and is connected to our original space on the 4th floor by a freight elevator and two staircases. To learn more about us, read our about page or send us an email, we're happy to field questions.

The interior of the room will change when we move in, seen here it is in its prior form of a dance studio.

Introducing the Industry Lab Gallery

The Industry Lab has happily, clumsily, simply, and with earnest delight started to host, show, sell, and celebrate the creative work from our favorite artists, designers, makers, thinkers, and whatevers. Starting tomorrow, we will be hanging, installing, positioning, and displaying work on a continual basis. There will be wine. There will be cheese.

We've created a new top-level page on this site, the Gallery, where we will post information about current and upcoming shows. Sign up for our mailing list and watch your inboxes. Then, carefully read our mutterings and book direct flights to attend our openings. We'll see you there.

EXPERIENCE ECONOMIES 6: INNOVATE OR DIE

Last Saturday we hosted the last stage of Experience Economies 6: Innovate or Die, a collaboration with the Lab at Harvard,  featuring "presentations by area artists Kelly Sherman and Catherine McMahon, New York City-based artist Mary Walling Blackburn, historian of science Jeremy Blatter, and a number of surprise guests." The 100 or so particpants travelled by bus through the boston area. We visited the lab at Harvard, the Harvard innovation lab, continuum, cloud place, and ended the evening with discussion, drinks, and music in the Sweet Sea (the IL's newest studio space).

IL friend Zenovia Toloudi has an excellent, in-depth write up on SHIFTBoston.
